State to add passing lanes on a portion of US 231 in Montgomery County

Restrictions starting on or after April 1 for US 231 Added Travel Lanes Project in multiple counties

MONTGOMERY, TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces restrictions on U.S. 231 starting on or after Saturday, April 1 for work on an Added Travel Lanes Project. Restrictions will be active Monday through Friday, and involve an intermittent flagging operation. Saturday restrictions are also possible.

This contract was awarded to Rieth Riley Construction for $15.9 million. It involves adding auxiliary and passing lanes to U.S. 231, asphalt resurfacing and culvert work along U.S. 231, from approximately 4.19-miles north of I-74 (Crawfordsville) to approximately 2.53-miles north of State Road 28 (Lafayette). This contract includes multiple phases, and will require traffic switches. INDOT will provide timely updates prior to each phase. The entire contract is expected to be completed in November 2024.
