County Commissioners Adopt E-billing Ordinance Allow Taxpayers to Receive Property Tax Statements Electronically

On February 23, 2015 Montgomery County Commissioners adopted the E-billing Ordinance allowing taxpayers to receive their tax statements, special assessments, and other property tax information via e-mail.  The Treasurer hopes that this initiative will improve efficiency in transmitting the property tax information to taxpayers as well as be a convenient option for those who prefer the electronic format.

To take advantage of this option, a taxpayer must obtain and fill out a request form, which is available from the County Auditor's Office, the County Treasurer's office, or https://www.montgomerycounty.in.gov/egov/documents/1424876763_79812.pdf or from the Department of Local Government Finance website at http://www.in.gov/dlgf/8516.htm.  The Request form must be properly filled out and submitted to the County Auditor and County Treasurer.  The Request form may be submitted in person, by regular mail addressed to: Montgomery County Auditor or Treasurer, 1580 Constitution Row, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 or by email: [email protected].  The form is considered filed on the postmark date or the date it is electronically submitted.  The taxpayer must follow all additional instructions listed on the form.

After receiving request form, the County Auditor or County Treasurer will transmit the tax statement information to the taxpayer by electronic mail that provides a secure Internet link to the information  Please note that if more than one person is liable for the property taxes, all such persons must designate one person authorized to secure the statements and other information via E-billing.
