Montgomery County Establishes Free Legal Help Kiosk at the Courthouse

(November 16, 2023) Many citizens in our community face legal hurdles that are difficult to overcome.  Whether it be a situation involving child custody, inability to obtain a valid driver’s license or eviction.  The Indiana General Assembly has provided many legal options to Indiana citizens, but those are not always easy to access for the average person who cannot readily afford the help of an attorney.

Because of this, the Montgomery County Courts and Clerk, in conjunction with the Indiana Bar Foundation, have set up a free Indiana Legal Help kiosk on the first floor of the Montgomery County Courthouse.  This kiosk provides immediate access to self-help legal forms and other information through the Indiana Legal Help website.  These forms include guardianship, custody, divorce, foreclosure, name change, estates, driver’s license issues, and conviction expungement.  The kiosk includes a printer, so all forms can be prepared on site for filing with the Clerk’s Office.

The kiosk and forms have been provided for public use by the Indiana Bar Foundation.  For more information about the kiosk system, residents can visit  The website also contains information about how to request free legal advice, obtain more information in various areas of the law and legal processes, and direct access to all of the forms that are available at the kiosk.

Courthouse offices cannot provide legal advice to residents.  For questions about any legal process, the County recommends that residents contact a licensed attorney.

The Montgomery Courthouse is located at 100 East Main Street in Crawfordsville and is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm and is closed on holidays.
