County Administrator Tom Klein, ICMA-CM

The Montgomery County Administrator is Tom Klein and he is the administrative head of the County Government and works under the supervision of the County Commissioners.  This position is authorized by Indiana Code §36-2-2-14.  The Administrator holds office at the pleasure of the Commissioners.  The Commissioners may assign to the Administrator any office, position or duties under the Commissioner’s control, and the Commissioners may withdraw any powers or duties by resolution. 

General Duties

The Administrator will perform complex, executive work planning, directing and coordinating the operation of the County Government Departments that report to the County Commissioners.  The Administrator will work with the Department Heads in order to ensure the proper operations, staffing, and budgeting of these departments.  The Administrator will advise and assist the County Commissioners regarding operations and perform primary duties.

The Administrator is part of the Commissioners Office team that include Executive Assistant Lori Dossett. The Office is responsible for board and commission support, department support and collaboration, legal services, asset management and intergovernmental relations. The Departments and functions supervised by the County Administrator include Building, Maintenance and Zoning, Economic Development, Human Resources, Emergency Management Agency, Engineering, Highway, and Mapping.
